Purpose: To arm you with a basic understanding of essential food safety principles.

Scope: This program will teach you or sharpen your knowledge of safe food handling practices.

Learning Objectives: effective June 12, 2023

  • identify how food becomes unsafe and leads to foodborne illnesses
  • identify when and which symptoms and illnesses must be reported
  • recognize proper hand hygiene techniques and good personal grooming habits to prevent food and food-contact surface contamination

Common Questions About Getting Your Food Handlers Card

FoodSafePal’s Food Handler Training holds the same ANSI-National Accreditation Board (ANAB) accreditation as ServSafe. This means that the food handlers card you earn with FoodSafePal is valid and accepted everywhere ServSafe is.

Your FoodSafePal Food Handler Card is valid for three years. However, your state or county may require you to renew sooner. For example, if you live in Texas, your FoodSafePal Food Handler Card is valid for two years.

The minimum passing score is 70%. After you pass, you can access your card and certificate immediately under “Certificates” in your Dashboard.

After you complete the course and pass the test, you can immediately download or print your card and certificate under “My Dashboard” → “My Certificates.”
