FoodSafePal was built to make accredited food safety certification accessible, transparent, and learner-first — accountable to the people we serve, not shareholders or trade associations.
FoodSafePal was founded by Gavin Van De Walle, MS, RDN — a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist with a Master’s in Nutrition and Food Science. Gavin created FoodSafePal after seeing firsthand how food safety certification had become dominated by organizations more focused on their own interests than the workers and businesses earning credentials.
His goal was simple: build a certification platform that puts learners first — with accredited programs, transparent pricing, and real human support. No corporate runaround, no unnecessary friction.
Gavin is supported by an Advisory Board of experienced food safety and foodservice professionals who provide oversight and ensure FoodSafePal’s programs remain legitimate, rigorous, and always in the learner’s best interest.
Both FoodSafePal programs hold official ANAB accreditation — the gold standard for food safety certification in the United States. Our food handler certificate is ANAB-accredited under ANSI/ASTM E2659, and our food manager certification is ANAB-CFP accredited — meeting the requirements for Certified Food Protection Manager (CFPM) status.
