FoodSafePal is committed to delivering a high-quality, accredited food safety certification experience. Because our products involve the delivery of digital content and proctored certification examinations, our refund policy reflects the nature of those services. Please read this policy carefully before completing your purchase. By purchasing any FoodSafePal product, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to the terms below.
General Terms
All purchases are subject to the terms of this Refund Policy. Refund eligibility varies by product type and is determined by whether and to what extent the purchased product has been accessed or used. FoodSafePal reserves the right to deny refund requests that do not meet the eligibility criteria outlined below.
Refunds, when approved, are issued to the original payment method only. FoodSafePal does not issue refunds via cash, check, or any method other than the original form of payment. Approved refunds are processed within 10 business days. To submit a refund request, contact FoodSafePal at (800) 426-1344, Monday–Friday, 8 AM–5 PM CST. Please include your full name, email address, date of purchase, product purchased, and reason for your request.
Food Handler Card
General Refund
A full refund may be requested within 30 days of purchase, provided that you have not started the course. Once any portion of the course has been accessed, a general refund is not available.
No refund will be issued under any of the following circumstances:
- Any portion of the course has been accessed
- More than 30 days have passed since the date of purchase
- A certificate has been issued
Acceptance Guarantee
If your FoodSafePal Food Handler Card is not accepted by your local health department or employer in a state we list as accepted, contact us within 30 days of purchase and we will refund the course price. This guarantee applies even if you have started or completed the course.
To qualify for a refund under the acceptance guarantee, you must provide:
- Your order number and state
- Either a brief note or email from the agency or employer stating non-acceptance, or a link or screenshot of their policy showing the reason for non-acceptance
The acceptance guarantee does not apply in the following circumstances:
- Purchases made for Washington or Alaska
- Purchase of the wrong product for your role (for example, a manager-level credential is required in your jurisdiction)
- Any government or permit fees already remitted to a health department or agency
Free State or Language Swap
If you purchased the wrong state course or language by mistake, we will switch you to the correct course within 30 days of purchase at no cost. Contact us at (800)-426-1344 to request a swap.
Food Safety Manager Training Only
FoodSafePal’s Food Safety Manager Training is a self-paced, fully digital course available immediately upon purchase.
A full refund may be requested within 30 days of purchase, provided that you have completed less than 50% of the training course. Once 50% or more of the course has been completed, no refund will be issued, as substantial digital content will have been delivered and consumed.
No refund will be issued under any of the following circumstances:
- You have completed 50% or more of the training course
- More than 30 days have passed since the date of purchase
- A certificate of completion has been issued
Food Safety Manager Certification Exam Only
The FoodSafePal Food Safety Manager Certification Exam is an ANAB-CFP accredited proctored examination delivered on demand. Because each exam session incurs immediate and non-recoverable costs — including live online proctoring — refunds for exam purchases are strictly limited.
A full refund may be requested within 72 hours of purchase, provided that your exam session has not been launched. Once your exam session has been initiated — including partial completion of the identity verification and proctoring setup process — the service is considered rendered and no refund will be issued regardless of the outcome of the exam.
No refund will be issued under any of the following circumstances:
- Your exam session has been launched, including partial completion of the proctoring authentication process
- More than 72 hours have passed since the date of purchase
- You did not pass the exam on either of your included attempts
- Your exam session was terminated due to a violation of testing environment or conduct requirements
- A certificate has been issued
Important: All FoodSafePal exam sessions are conducted under live remote proctoring. Prior to beginning the exam, all examinees are required to present a valid, government-issued photo ID, which is captured and retained on file. The full exam session — including webcam footage, screen activity, and identity verification — is recorded and retained. This documentation is maintained for the purposes of exam integrity, accreditation compliance, and, where applicable, resolution of payment disputes.
Food Safety Manager Training + Exam Bundle
The Training + Exam bundle includes both the Food Safety Manager Training course and the Food Safety Manager Certification Exam. Because this bundle contains two distinct products with different refund terms, the following conditions apply based on what has been accessed at the time of the refund request.
If Neither the Training Nor the Exam Has Been Started
A full refund may be requested within 7 days of purchase, provided that you have not accessed the training course or launched an exam session.
If Training Has Been Started But the Exam Has Not Been Launched
If you have begun the training course but have not yet launched an exam session, a partial refund equal to the standalone exam price may be requested within 30 days of purchase, provided that less than 50% of the training course has been completed. No refund will be issued for the training portion if 50% or more of the training has been completed.
If the Exam Session Has Been Launched
Once your exam session has been initiated — including partial completion of the identity verification and proctoring setup process — no refund will be issued for any portion of the bundle, regardless of exam outcome.
No refund will be issued under any of the following circumstances:
- Your exam session has been launched, including partial completion of the proctoring authentication process
- More than 7 days have passed since purchase and neither product has been started
- More than 30 days have passed since the date of purchase
Printed Certificate Add-On
The printed certificate is an optional, custom-printed add-on to your digital certificate. Refund eligibility for this add-on depends on the status of the associated course or exam refund request and the print status of the certificate at the time the request is made.
- The printed certificate add-on is refundable only if printing has not yet begun and only as part of an approved course or exam refund.
- Once printing has begun or the item has shipped, the add-on is non-refundable.
- If your printed certificate arrives damaged or does not arrive within 21 calendar days of the ship date to a U.S. address, contact us at (800) 426-1344 for a complimentary reprint to the same address. Limit one reprint per order.
- If you need to correct a shipping address or name after printing has begun or the item has shipped, a new add-on purchase may be required.
Government and Permit Fees
In some jurisdictions, FoodSafePal is required to collect and remit a government or permit fee to a local health department at the time of purchase. Examples include certain Utah local health departments and San Diego County. These fees are shown separately at checkout.
Once a government or permit fee has been remitted to the applicable agency, that portion of your payment is non-refundable under any circumstances. If a refund is approved before the fee has been remitted, both the course price and the unremitted fee will be refunded.
Non-Refundable Circumstances — All Products
Regardless of product type, no refund will be issued in the following circumstances:
- Failure to read or understand FoodSafePal’s product descriptions, policies, or requirements prior to purchase
- Failure to prepare an appropriate testing environment as required by the Examinee Information Bulletin
- Exam session termination resulting from a violation of testing environment or conduct requirements
- Failure to pass the exam on any included attempt
- Technical issues caused by the examinee’s own hardware, software, internet connection, or testing environment
- Change of mind after the applicable refund window has expired
- Employer reimbursement issues or employment changes
- Purchase of the wrong product for your role or jurisdiction where the correct product remains available
Payment Disputes and Chargebacks
FoodSafePal encourages all customers to contact us directly at (800) 426-1344 before initiating a dispute with their financial institution. Most concerns can be resolved quickly and directly, and we are committed to working with you in good faith.
If a payment dispute or chargeback is initiated for a purchase where services have been rendered — as defined in this policy — FoodSafePal will respond to that dispute with the following documentation:
- A copy of this Refund Policy and your purchase agreement, including your acknowledgment at checkout
- Timestamped records confirming access to and launch of the course or exam session
- Identity verification records, including the government-issued photo ID submitted prior to the exam, where applicable
- Session recording documentation confirming participation in the proctored exam, where applicable
- Certificate issuance records, where applicable
By completing your purchase, you acknowledge that initiating a chargeback for services that have been rendered — as defined in this policy — may result in your account being flagged and your eligibility to purchase future FoodSafePal products being revoked. Please contact us first. We are here to help.
